Description
This painting started as something completely different. I was aiming for a 60s look sci-fi waste with UFOs in a distant planet. It ended up in an African fantasy setting displaying a tribe leaving its home (to hunt, probably). I was inspired by one of Rodney Matthews paintings called “Drumboogie”, however I only noticed this halfway along the painting process, thinking “I have seen a similar image before!”Asking for help in the WIP forums was of great help to make me see the mistakes along the way. There could be quite a few things still improved, but in the end I just had to stop. Perhaps I will pick it up again in a few months. It took me between 20 and 25 hours to complete over 8 days and it was entirely created in Photoshop. I also added some painting steps and details below.
